Praksis Arkitekter Architecture
Praksis is a Danish architecture studio based in Troense near Svendborg, founded in 2006 by Mette Tony and Mads Bjørn Hansen. The studio works with a site-specific approach, focusing on context, history, and users, particularly through the renovation and transformation of existing buildings and urban areas.
Any tradition must continuously be reinterpreted in order to be reborn, and any innovation must understand tradition in order to challenge it. This, in short, defines the studio’s architectural approach. This means that the practice seeks neither a nostalgic recreation of the past nor fleeting trends, but rather to create architecture of lasting quality – architecture that continues to resonate beyond the first impression.
They are behind notable projects such as Svinkløv Badehotel and the Maltfabrikken, and are currently working on the reconstruction of the burned down interior of The Stock Exchange in Copenhagen and the transformation of Kunsthal Spritten in Aalborg.
